EVENT DATE: Friday, April 16th through Saturday morning, April 17, 2009 at East Central High School
WHAT HAPPENS THAT NIGHT?:
- The event gets kicked off with a Health Fair that begins at 6 PM on April 16th
- The parade of survivors will start around 7:15 PM followed by the Relay for Life Teams.
- Those ECABC Team members who can be there at this time will walk together for a lap and show off our spirit!!
- After that each team will have a representative on the track walking every minute throughout the night.
- You can walk for a few minutes or a few hours…totally up to you.
- The last lap will be completed by 7 AM April 17th.
- You don’t have to stay all night…come when you can and leave when you need to. We’ll have a tent where you can park your chairs for a rest or to support the other walkers. Feel free to bring drinks and snacks while we keep each other going.
- There will be music and entertainment as well as luminaries that line the inside lane on the track.
LUMINARIES: “The American Cancer Society Relay For Life® offers the opportunity to remember people who have lost their lives to cancer and honor those who have won their battle. One of the most moving parts of the event is the Luminaria Ceremony of Hope. As the sun sets over campsites and darkness falls, the night is brightened by the glow of illuminated bags called luminaria, each of which has a special meaning. Some celebrate the lives of those who have battled cancer and have lived to tell their stories. Many remember the lives of those who have been lost to this disease. All represent someone special who has been profoundly affected by cancer and the family and friends who continue to fight back in their honor.” Contact either Johnny or Audra about purchasing a luminary.
THEME: “Rockin through the Decades”
WE WOULD LOVE TO HAVE ALL OF YOU THERE!!!! There is a max of 15 for each team…it would be great if we had several ECABC teams participating!!
It’s gonna be great fun!!
